Yeah, that’s absolutely legit, but also quite different from what Gibson has said in that interview. I once was at a reading of his and he said that he is writing (it was during the Bigend Cycle) about things that are possible but not quite available in the supermarket. I think it’s a good example of how he has access to things that he knows of which he knows that most of his readers don’t. And he’s correct, in my opinion, in his assessment that this is how most part of the western world operates. If more people would operate according to Kay‘s model, Gibson‘s quote wouldn’t have caught on as much as it did. :)
